Tshenolo Mabale known for her creative writing, poetry. Her contribution in these fields would be in a form of workshop on the basics of writing for film or television, using film as a way of expressing cultural diversity in the continent and globally. Using and performing written poetry to express and tell our own stories; using creative writing as a way to retain, share and view culture and art in our societies.
Motlepele ‘Mo Molemi’ Morule is a nationally recognised South African motswako artist. His debut album, Amantsi, was nominated for the South African Music Awards (SAMA) and his sophomore album, Motzamai-Rebel Without A Pause has been given nods by critics. Mo Molemi can render performances of his songs and engage in conversations about art and culture, as his lyrical content is heavily laden with references to these. He is also a farmer who stands up for the proletariats.
Eze-lap is one of the upcoming South African rap artists but did not start of rapping. He began as a pantsula dancer in a kwaito group called Manyora. In 2006, Manyora went and auditioned for the music performance show, Xpressions where Eze-lap developed his skills as an artist. Xpressions gave him the platform to explore all his artistic abilities and assisted in diversifying his art. Two years later, the Manyora group decided to part ways and Eze-lap had good foundation to stand on his own.
Having had opportunities to perform on stages such as Xpressions and Lefoko, a local hip hop show, Eze-lap’s commitment to his art awarded him a great opportunity. In 2009, Eze-lap featured on Mo Molemi’s sophomore album, Motzamai-Rebel Without A Pause on a song called Motlapele. This song was the second single from the album and has enjoyed great airplay. Eze-lap is also one of the upcoming artists who featured on the album that tours with Mo Molemi, on the BLU COLLA NITE shows. In August 2010, at the Maftown Heights show in Johannesburg, Eze-lap performed his music for the first time with a live band. The BLU COLLA NITE shows continue to expose Eze-lap to a wider audience across the country.
Eze-lap cites Mo Molemi, Hhp, Khuli Chana and Towdee Mac as his greatest influence when it comes to motswako. Eze-lap has recorded a song on Lemonka’s Motswako Mixtape Volume 2 and is currently working on his debut album, aptly named Eze Just.
Batsirai E Chigama, Zimbabwe. In 2006 when Batsirai started seriously performing her poetry she says there were only three women doing poetry
readings at the time including herself. She was felt challenged to add her voice in the poetry circles therefore ventured into the slam community at the Book Cafe in Harare. She is passionate about lending her voice to the women whose voices have been silenced the world over.
Batsirai currently works as a full-time Gender Project Officer in an arts development organisation. In the past she has mostly worked as a solo performer but occasionally collaborated with other poets and musicians experiences she relishes.
As a poet interaction is important for it is from such that she draws inspiration from real people, real experiences she says. The meeting of cultures enriches the experience even more and Batsirai believes the community of Pemba will add a wealth of knowledge and creativity to her personally. She hopes synergies of this nature should be encouraged as it connects not only the people but the rich cultures of Africa.
Ratidzo Eunice Tava, Zimbabwe, is one of the very few female directors in Zimbabwe. She is the award winning theatre director and also a three time award winning theatre actress who has staged plays in Malawi, Tanzania, Botswana, Zanzibar, Zambia, England, Norway, Denmark, Scotland, Sweden.
